GROWING GREAT SATURDAYS Interested in improving the health and well-being of refugee youth? This could be the volunteer job for you! Growing Great Saturdays is an opportunity to work side by side with an amazing bunch of kids, ages 6 to 21, in farming a bountiful five-acre plot of land. These dynamic, program-driven Saturdays offer refugee youth time away from the challenges of city and family life and the enjoyment of fresh air, nutritious fresh food, animals to study and know, and experiential learning opportunities. Guided by knowledgeable staff, volunteers partner with youth in gardening, caring for farm animals, building and constructing, cooking and serving meals, kitchen projects such as preserving, plus, science, art, and journaling activities, and more!

WINTER WONDERS Winter Wonders are monthly field trips that take place on Saturdays from September to January. Field trips provide our youth with unique opportunities to experience things outside of the farm and their classrooms that their families may not be able to afford. These trips help youth to build cultural understanding and expose them to worlds outside of their own. Examples of field trips include visiting science and cultural organizations, local restaurants where youth get to experience new cuisines, and volunteering at local nonprofit organizations. Field Trips take place during the day or in the early evening depending on the activity. To become one of our Winer Wonders chaperones, email [email protected]

Requirements: All volunteers are required to fill out an application which includes a criminal background check. Please email [email protected] to get started.
